Stilettos give women shapelier legs than flats?
Posted on 2:39 PM by dvdsvdsdv
According to a new study of 18 to 33-year-olds has shown those who walked in high heels activated their inner and outer calf muscles much more evenly than those who used flatter shoes.
A shorter heel, worn by half the subjects, led to them having bigger inner calf muscles because they are exercised more, according to the findings published in the Royal Society journal Biology Letters.
Professor Anna Ahn, of Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, and colleagues said: 'Similar to pulling a door-closer to its hinge, the ankle must be extended by a greater force when muscles pull closer to the ankle joint with a shorter heel.
'Heel length may determine calf muscle size in humans.
'In order to generate these higher forces at the ankle, these individuals activate their relatively thicker muscles for a longer duration.'
In the study the researchers analysed ten sedentary people, five men and five women, to ensure athletic training was not a factor in their performance.
They added: 'People come in different shapes and sizes. In particular, calf muscle size in humans varies considerably.
'Some people have short, stout lower leg muscles, while others have long, slender leg muscles.
'A possible cause for these differences in calf muscle size is the difference in neural signals received by the muscles, because muscles respond to increased neural activation with hypertrophy (excessive development).
'These individuals would also generate relatively higher muscle forces when walking, since muscle force increases with amplitude of muscle activity.'
Two years ago Italian researchers found wearing a pair of moderately high heels can tone the body, condition muscles and even improve a woman's sex life.
The study involved measuring electrical activity in the pelvic muscles of women when they held their feet at different angles.
Those who held their feet at a 15-degree angle to the ground, the equivalent of a 7cm heel, showed up to 15% less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles.
The results suggest the muscles are more relaxed when women wear higher heels, increasing their strength and ability to contract during lovemaking.
High heels have been a fashion item since the 1600s but over the past 50 years they have been blamed for a variety of health problems ranging from bunions, stress fractures and knee pain to an increased risk of arthritis.

Dubai-Based Nigerian Family Disappear On Way To Asaba
Posted on 11:49 AM by dvdsvdsdv
A Dubai-based Nigerian family has been declared missing after they embarked on a journey from Lagos to Asaba, Delta State. The family of four has been missing for seven days now.
The Onyeocha family, including Edna, 35, and her three kids, Loveth, 11, Precious, 8, Golden, 6 and Edna’s cousin, Chinyere, left Lagos last Wednesday in a chartered Toyota Camry saloon car with registration number LAGOS KU 108 EKY.
Ugochukwu Onyeocha, Edna’s husband and father of the missing kids, told P.M. NEWS that he and his family came into the country on Monday, 24 January for a holiday from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, their base. The last time the family came to Nigeria was five years ago.
But last Wednesday morning, he hired a cab that came to pick them up at Jakande Estate, Isolo, where they all stayed with his wife’s sister, before their ill-fated journey to the Delta State capital. According to Ugochukwu, an accountant, his wife, Edna, a staff of Standard Chartered Bank, Dubai, and the children left for the trip around 10a.m. in a car driven by a man called Godfrey Emmanuel Inalegwu, who works for a car hire outfit.
Ugochukwu said he last spoke with his wife at around 11a.m. of that Wednesday and later around 3p.m. when he tried to check on them. But he could no longer reach her afterwards as her phone was switched off. Ugochukwu was now disturbed by his inability to reach his family. “I again called her phone to confirm their safety but her phone was still switched off. I later gave up, thinking probably because they were on the expressway, and there was no network. After some time, I tried again and the phone remained dead.
“My kids don’t use phones so I didn’t bother to call them. At a point, I thought maybe she was tired and wanted to rest. So, later I went to bed.” But early the next day, Ugochukwu’s mother-in-law, whom the Onyeochas were going to visit in Asaba, was the first to call, asking after them. Ugochukwu was stunned when his wife’s mom told him she was yet to set eyes on his family.
“After my mother-in-law gave me this shocking news, I quickly picked my phone and tried my wife’s line over and over but it remained switched off. “I then rushed to the Red Cab park in Amuwo Odofin, to look for the driver named Olajide that brought the driver that took my family on the journey, but I didn’t meet him. I asked after him from his colleagues and they said he came around in the morning and left.
“I asked for his number and called him but his number was switched off. So I left and dropped my number with them that he should call me as soon as he comes. He did call me later but had no clues as to their whereabouts.” The missing family are suspected to have been abducted somewhere near Otu Costain – a border town between Ondo and Edo States – based on the record on the map of the tracking device attached to the car they were travelling in.
“The map showed that the vehicle left Lagos around 10 a.m. and passed Ore. They got to a place called Otu Costain, the car stopped there for six minutes and continued again; after that nothing could be seen again on the map. Whatever happened to my family could have occurred at that point,” Onyeocha told P.M.NEWS.
Meanwhile, the matter is now being investigated by detectives at the Force Criminal Investigations Department, FCID, Panti, in Yaba. Ugochukwu first reported the case at the Festac Police Station before it was transferred to Panti. The last time the family came to Nigeria was five years ago.

Mob sets Zenith bank Abuja branch ablaze
Posted on 7:57 AM by dvdsvdsdv
A riot policeman attached to a branch of Zenith Bank at Mpape, a suburb of Abuja, on Monday Jan 31 allegedly shot and killed a taxi driver and a female passenger.
Three other passengers in the taxi marked Niger XA 783 SRP were said to have sustained serious injuries and were taken to an undisclosed hospital.
The policeman was said to have fled the scene but he was arrested shortly after an irate mob had set the bank on fire.
Nine vehicles parked in the bank’s premises were also burnt while an Automated Teller Machine was vandalised, looted and then set ablaze by the mob.
Expended bullet shells littered the front of the bank when one of our correspondents visited the scene. It was also observed that the taxi had a thick pool of blood on the driver’s seat.
Many rubber strings, were also seen in the bank’s premises, indicating that the mob might have looted money from the bank.
A split air-conditioner was removed, and set on fire when it could not be taken away due to the confusion at the scene.
The intervention of the police, a detachment of the Brigade of Guard led by the Commander, Brig.-Gen. Emmanuel Atewe, and the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service, saved the lives of the bank workers.
Most of the workers were taken out of the premises in a military pick-up at about 9 am, leaving one who was escorted out of the bank at about 9.55am.
There were two accounts of what led to the shooting. While one has it that the taxi driver dared to make a U-turn in front of the bank after he had been warned by the policeman not to do so, the other account said it was because he attempted to drop off a nursing mother in front of the bank.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Mr. John Haruna, told journalists that the riot policeman at the centre of the crisis was in custody of the command.
Haruna added that the Nigeria Police Force “does not condone attacks on innocent citizens in any manner by any of its men.’’
“The policeman in this case is in custody; due process will be followed until justice is dispensed,’’ he said, adding that the case would be referred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for necessary advice.
The Mpape Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Imran Balarabe, explained that he was at home when the Divisional Crime Officer alerted him to the incident.
According to him, he quickly dashed to the scene, only to see hundreds of angry people attacking the bank.
Balarabe said, “When I got to the scene, the whole place was filled with smoke. I had to call my men off from the scene because they could not control the situation.
“I asked them to go back and secure the police station to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the confusion to attack the station and steal arms.
“I called for reinforcement and the bank staff who were trapped in the building were eventually rescued and the fire put out by the fire service.”
The DPO explained that the information he had was that the gun went off when the policeman hit the butt on the taxi while ordering the driver not to park in front of the bank.
He stated that it was likely that the gun was not cocked.
Meanwhile, gunmen suspected to be hired assassins have shot dead the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium, Akwa Ibom State, Edidem Robert Obot.
Obot, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, was murdered in his palace at Ikot Ekpene Udo at Nsit Ubium Local Government Area around 5pm on Sunday.
The gunmen numbering about three were said to have introduced themselves at the entrance to the palace as visitors on an appointment with the monarch.
On gaining access into the living room, they reportedly fired at the septuagenarian and one of his personal assistants.
While the personal assistant whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report survived, Obot was not as lucky.
The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom Command, Mr. Sani Magaji, confirmed the incident.

Ritualists’ camp- Where people are killed for money
Posted on 2:15 PM by dvdsvdsdv
For passers-by, Obadore Bridge along LASU - Iba - Isheri road, Lagos is just any other bridge for the convenience of motorists. But the bridge is a personification of evil. It gives a picture of evil on all fours. It depicts desperate wickedness, bestiality, heartlessness and man’s inhumanity to man. Indeed, it shows a picture that diminishes man.
Findings revealed that Obadore Bridge is not just a linking bridge. It’s a slaughter house where people are daily killed and their bodies dismembered for money-making. At the time of writing this report, the body of an unknown person, with some of the vital parts missing, lies near the bridge at Obadore to tell the story of this evil place.
Saturday Sun investigation revealed that Obadore Bridge has become a favourite hunting ground for ritualists and sundry criminals.
There, evil men ambush unsuspecting members of the public, hack them down and dismember their bodies. The area is usually littered with corpses that have missing parts, such as private organs, breasts, tongues and eyes.
It was gathered that agents of ritualists, who operate commercial buses, take innocent passengers to Obadore, where such victims are killed and their vital parts cut off. Also, the killers waylay commercial motorcycle operators and their passengers. Such victims are knocked down the bike and dragged into the forest and killed. Also, some commercial motorcycles collude with the ritualists and take unsuspecting commuters to the place to be killed.
Findings revealed that when such commercial motorcycle operators get to the foot of the bridge with passengers, they would stop their bike, pretending that they have developed mechanical faults. At that instant, the ritualist would swoop on the passenger and drag him or her to the forest, where such a person is killed.
Saheed Musbau, a resident of Obadore, told Saturday Sun that he missed death by the whiskers when he was attacked near the bridge last December. Telling his story, Mustan said that evil operators around the bridge knocked him down from his motorcycle and tried to drag him into the bush. According to him, he was lucky that the blow from a club used by the ritualists landed on his back instead of the head, where they had aimed. He fell, quite alright, but did not lose consciousness. According to him, when his attackers, thinking he was unconscious swooped on him and were dragging him into the bush, he quickly got up and ran away.
The commercial motorcycle operator said of Obadore, he said: “In some cases, you will find motorcycles belonging to the victims, without any trace of the owners. They would have been killed and vital parts of their bodies removed.”
Musbau, who is a commercial motorcycle operator further said: “They usually dump their victims’ bodies in the forest. People usually perceive offensive odour any time they are passing through the bridge because of the decomposed bodies of victims of ritual killings.”
Another resident of the area, Mrs. Goodness Lawrence, offered further perspectives to the nefarious activities going on there. She said: “There is no doubt that the Obadore Bridge and its environs are dangerous spots. Apart from the ritual killers parading the place, cultists from the Lagos State University (LASU) also carry out their initiation there. Thieves also camp there in the night and rob people. In fact, you are as good as dead if your vehicle breaks down near the bridge at night.”
She added that when the second bridge was being built at Obadore, following the dualisation of the LASU- Obadore- Isheri expressway, a mass of human bones were discovered at the foot of the bridge.
Checks also revealed that illegal bunkering also goes on in the forest. The illegal bunkerers operate in the night, stealing petroleum products from pipelines.
When Saturday Sun visited the bridge recently, a group of young men were seen smoking Indian hemp. At the Oko-Efo end of the bridge, some people were seen enjoying roasted (dry) meat and palm wine, while exotic cars lined the roadside.
A source, who craved anonymity, squealed that there could be more to the daily rendezvous going on there than meet there ordinary eye. When contacted on telephone, the public relations officer of the Lagos state police command, Mr Frank Mba, said that the command is aware of the allegation that rutualists prawl the area. He, however, volunteered that the command had intensified overt and covert security patrol of the area area, adding that hoodlums and sundry criminals have been arrestd. He appealed to members of the public to coperate with the police by providing information that could lead to the arrest of enemies of society. He argued that the criminals are not spirits but human beings living in the midst of people.

"I see a plane crash that will claim the lives of many this year" TB Joshua's 2011 prophesy
Posted on 1:51 PM by dvdsvdsdv
The head pastor of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, TB Joshua gives this yearly predictions. He just released his prophetic words for 2011...some of it caught my attention...
"I see blood of personalities flowing. Take note of that. I repeat again, personalities should not enter the same plane and say they are flying from one state to another for any reason in this country. There is a danger. This is a plane crash that will claim the lives of many personalities. To avoid this, they should not enter the same plane together"
He claims to have predicted the death of a leader and the October Independence bombings last year.
