Dr Oba Otudeko has been removed as Chairman of First Bank Plc one year after he replaced Dr. Umaru Mutallab, the father of Nigerian Christmas Day under wear bomber, Abdul mutallab, who tried to blow up a US plane. - The Will Nigeria. Suspected members of Boko Haram are behind the killing of three more people at a hospital in Maiduguri, police said on Wednesday. The three victims, including a senior police officer, were killed Tuesday evening when some armed men fired shots into a teaching hospital in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. “An investigation has already commenced but I can tell you that we believe the killings must have been carried out by the Boko Haram since it was their mode of operations,” the Borno State police public relations officer said.
Boko Haram said on its website on Tuesday it was behind the Christmas Eve bombings in Jos. The group is loosely modelled on the Taliban movement in Afghanistan.
Members of the group had, last Saturday attacked some churches in Maiduguri killing about six people. A witness said the attack was carried out by around 30 armed men. The Brigade Commander of the military task force in the town, Ibrahim Hassan Ndaliman, said his men were actually on patrol when they heard of the situation in Dala Alemderi, and they came around; but the deed was already done before they arrived. He said they were able to protect other Churches within the state capital against further attacks.

Isabelle Caro, a French actress and model whose anorexic image appeared in a shock Italian ad campaign, has died at the age of 28.
Dubreuil-Prevot said she did not know the cause of death but that Caro 'had been sick for a long time,' referring to her anorexia.
Caro featured in an ad campaign by Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani in 2007 for an Italian fashion house.
Under the headline 'No Anorexia,' images across newspapers and billboards showed Caro naked, vertebrae and facial bones protruding.
At 5ft 4in, she is reported to have weighed just 4st 8lb (68lbs) at the time.
Caro, who had her own blog site, said she had suffered from anorexia since she was 13 as the result of a 'difficult childhood'.

Yesterday Wednesday Dec 29th, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, ordered the indefinite suspension of toll collection on the Eti-Osa Lekki Epe Expressway. The Toll collection was originally billed to commence on January 3, 2011 but the state government succumbed to appeals and complaints on the toll.
The suspension, according to the governor, is to enable the government to further engage with the concessionaire, the Lekki Concession Company Limited, and the concerned stakeholders on the proposed toll.
Lekki Residents must be relieved.

A 16th century ivory mask looted by the British during an invasion of Benin in West Africa (Nigeria) in 1897 is set to go for £5 Million at auction at Sotheby's ( Phone :+44 (0) 20 7293 5000) in London. It was kept by the family of British commissioner Lt Col Henry Galway and recently resurfaced
The auction has been fixed for February 17th, 2011 at Sotheby's in London with a guide price of £5m and some Nigerians want to protest the sale.

“My name is Oluwadare Akanmu. I have been working with Sharon’s parents for six years now. I was working with the parents from Port Harcourt and they brought me to Lagos and I have been living with them. I am a welder and I want to start life so I went to tell Sharon’s father to assist me with N250,000 so that I can stand on my own. He gave me N40,000 for one of the tools but the money was not enough. So one day, something came over me and I decided to carry Sharon away so that the parents will give me the N500,000 so I can start life.”
Mr. Akanmu said he went to Sharon’s school at about 2.35pm that day, picked her up and took her to his friend, Ibrahim’s house at Alakoko, a Lagos suburb, where he kept her for eight days. He said his N15,000 monthly salary was not enough to sustain him and he decided to kidnap Sharon so that he could demand a ransom of N500,000 to start a welding shop.
“When I took Sharon to my friend’s house, I took care of her and I was asking for N500,000 ransom, but my friends were demanding N10 million. On Monday, I became fed up with the whole kidnap thing and I called Sharon’s father and told him where we were. So that was how police came and arrested me and took Sharon away. I feel bad about what I did,” Mr Akanmu said.

The Senate two days rejected the request by state governments to borrow from foreign countries, saying its decision was based on lack of adequate information on the loans. The Senate, however, permitted the federal government to borrow $1.537 billion out of the overall $3.702 billion for which President Goodluck Jonathan had repeatedly requested of the lawmakers.
According to the Senate, the approved $1.537 billion had adequate information about them provided to the national assembly. The states could not provide the Senate with information like identification of states borrowing where they were not specifically mentioned; state Houses of Assembly’s resolution approving of such loans and the level of indebtedness of each borrowing states.
“The 2010 external borrowing plan by states were not considered by the committee due to the absence of relevant information,” said Ahmed Makarfi, Chairman, Senate committee on Finance who led the evaluating committees. In an analysis obtained from the Senate, some states planned to use the loans on “capacity building” and pre-conception designs of some unspecified projects. Most senators kicked against their demands saying they were borrowing money to spend on the forthcoming elections.
Sixteen states, including Lagos, Abia and Oyo would have benefited from the loans if they were approved.

Remember when talk show queen, Oprah Winfrey, sat down with Barbara Walters and said that her best friend Gayle King was like the mother she never had? [click here if you missed it]. Well her mum saw it too and wasn't happy about it.

OPRAH WINFREY's ailing mother ravaged after her famous daughter humiliated her in front of a TV audience of millions, say insiders.
Not only did the talk-show diva confess to Barbara Walters that she wasn't close to mom Vernita Lee - she went on to gush about best pal Gayle King, referring to her as "the mother I never had."
"Vernita is devastated," divulged a close family friend.
"It was the final straw after years of insults and betrayals. She just doesn't understand why Oprah still has to be so cruel to her."
Vernita, 75, was said to have been "so proud" when she sat down to watch the Walters interview at her Milwaukee condo.
"But her joy turned to tears and embarrassment as Oprah described her friendship with Gayle," maintained the friend. "Vernita knows she wasn't the perfect mother, but she loves Oprah, and she is hurt by the way her daughter put her down in public.
"Vernita says Oprah keeps bringing up the fact that she was the result of a one-night stand, that Vernita didn't protect Oprah from abuse or help her when she was raped when she was 9 years old .
"She wishes Oprah would forgive her after all these years."
Vernita, who suffers from high blood pressure, diabetes, blurred vision and kidney problems, tried to build a stronger relationship with Oprah over the years, but her efforts have been hampered by the fact that she doesn't even have her daughter's private phone number!
